What's new 10/06/09

Okay, it's time to bragg a little! There is an article about our farm in the currect issue of the 'Real Estate' magazine. It's really a very nice article (I might be just a little prejudiced though). You can bring your copy by and we'll autograph it for you when you pick up your box!

John culitvated the broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, and cabbage beds. He's determined to keep on top of this chore which is good 'cuz our old friend chickweed is sprouting up again!

He cleaned out the bean bed and we took a load of bean and fennel stalks and old cabbages down to the sheep in Elk. They really look great! They loved the treats. Tim has 6 other sheep that are sharing the field. They are 'retired' sheep. Ours look sooooo much more robust. It also seems like the ewes might be pregnant...we'll have to wait and see if Baab has done his job or not.

John's amazing! He rototilled some of the beds on the front, south side of the house in that strong wind yesterday. I on the other hand, stayed inside and cleaned up the house!

We have to find a different place to transplant our lettuces. John realized the area that we were going to use will be too shady very soon. So, he'll plant a cover crop and have those beds ready for the Spring. We have a couple of places we could use but it means more rototilling!

We have bags of #2 potatoes for sale. They were packed in the field in approximately 30 pounds each. They are #2s because they have some defect. It might only be a green spot, or a cut from the digging fork, or a blemish but they're still good eating potatoes. Let us know if you want any.
